The Italian Food Academy of Nairobi is already reality! Last April the first Academy of Italian cuisine opened in Limuro, near Nairobi, a project promoted by Alice for Children and with Medac among its prestigious sponsor.
The aim is to give a real and qualified answer to the up-and-coming request of the job market in Kenya, more and more oriented to restauration and to high quality tourist reception.
The school joins solidarity and innovations: teaching the excellence of the Italian cuisine with the support of the experts of the sector, it offers new competence and opportunity to the boys of Nairobi slums.
The youngsters entering the first pilot class will learn the basics of the Mediterranean cooking and know the secrets of Italian traditional recipes, including artisanal ice cream of course!
The opening is expected at the begin of August and when Academy will be fully functional, more than 60 youngers will yearly attend the lessons and the workshops hold by Italian chefs. At the end of three years theoretical and practical training, the chef candidates and hall managers will be ready to start their working career in the best restaurant of Kenya.
